Enter the Underworld… If You Dare!
Saturday, October 31 at 4-5pm & 6-7pm
The Burrow at Naramata Inn
And just when you thought Halloween on the Naramata Bench couldn’t get any more interesting…
Did you know that Naramata is said to have gotten its name during a séance?
As the story goes, back in 1907, the postmaster’s wife, a medium, went into a trance in front of the town’s founder, John Moore Robinson, and emerged with the name Naramata.
Well, this Halloween, the Medium is returning to Naramata… and she’s bringing company!
Tempest Theatre, Discover Naramata and Naramata Inn invite you to Underworld, an All Hallows’ Eve experience bringing together wine, food, live theatre and a fascinating piece of local history.
Guests will descend into The Burrow at Naramata Inn, where three mysterious characters — the Medium, the Witch and the Warlock — guide them through a tasting of local wines, each paired with a specially created appetizer and a story designed to stir the senses, mind and heart.
And the wines? They’re every bit as intriguing as the characters.
1 Mill Road, Nichol Winery and Roche Wines are part of this theatrical adventure, bringing three distinctive Naramata Bench wine stories to the experience.
Meet Vespie, the Medium, who bridges the worlds of memory and possibility; Valerian, the Warlock, an extravagant collector of wines, secrets and rather questionable acquaintances, whose mysterious little black book holds stories from another time; and of course, the Witch awaits, with a story and a wine of her own.
Part wine tasting, part theatrical adventure and entirely intriguing, Underworld promises to be a deliciously different way to spend Halloween night.
We especially love seeing this kind of collaboration between our local arts, culinary and wine communities. It’s another wonderful example of the creativity and connections happening here on the Naramata Bench, and we’re pretty excited to be part of it!
Two performances: 4pm and 6pm. Purchase Tickets here.
