Water Sports

No Okanagan vacation is complete without a few hours spent sailing, paddling, fishing, floating, boating, splashing, wading, or basking on the beach. From the numerous sandy beaches and boat launches on Okanagan Lake to the crisp mountain lakes such as Chute Lake, there’s bound to be a body of water that calls to you.

Paddleboarding, Kayaking and Canoeing

Paddling is a wonderful way to spend a day exploring the many beaches surrounding Naramata. Manitou Beach and Wharf Park are two popular areas located within the village. The more adventurous can venture north towards Okanagan Mountain Provincial Park where there are many campgrounds nestled on the sandy beaches.

Paddleboarding: Rent gear, take a lesson, or even shop for your own gear to use again and again at Sun n Sup, located right in the Village. With walking distance access to two different beaches, and wheels provided with all rentals, the crew at Sun ‘n Sup makes it a breeze to get out on the water — even if you’re a beginner. If you’re on the Penticton end of town, HooDoo Adventures (see below) also has paddleboard gear to rent.

Kayaking: The crew at Hoodoo Adventures has gear to rent and if you prefer – fully guided tours. Spend an hour exploring right around the Village, or spend a full day on a guided paddle and wine+cheese paired tour — truly the best of Naramata in one day! (This tour was touted ‘3rd best kayak experience’ in Canada by Readers Digest.)

Sailing & Boating

Sailing: Sailing on Okanagan Lake is one of the most peaceful and scenic ways to experience the region. With warm summer breezes, calm waters, and incredible views of vineyards, mountains, and shoreline, it’s perfect for both relaxing and exploring.

Boating: Naramata is the perfect place to cool off on Okanagan Lake during the summer heat. Our quiet beaches make an excellent spot to strap on the water skis or take the kids tubing. Take a look at the map below to find public boat launches along the Naramata Bench.

Fishing

Okanagan Lake provides a wide variety of fishing opportunities for Kokanee Salmon, Lake Whitefish, Burbot and Rainbow Trout that can reach well over 20 pounds! With the lake being over 135 kms long there is a lot of water to cover to find the fish. However, when you do track them down you may be in for a battle with a fish of a lifetime! This lake is very popular for water sports so there are a lot of access points to launch your boat. The lake also offers great fishing from shore for smaller rainbows, whitefish and pike minnows that provides terrific family fishing opportunities. Fishing with bait and float or bottom set up with bait work well from the shoreline.

Chute Lake Resort is located in a very scenic and historic region along the Kettle Valley Railroad, in the mountains above Naramata. The lake is stocked with rainbow trout and has a boat launch. Chute Lake Lodge has a restaurant, camping sites and accommodation.
