Discover Aikins Loop: Naramata’s First Walkable Tasting Room Tour
Nine kilometres north of Penticton on Naramata Road sits the Aikins Loop - a charming rural road home to four award-winning wineries: Deep Roots, Elephant Island, JoieFarm Winery, and Van Westen Vineyards. An easy 1 min to 5 min walk between tasting rooms, the Aikins Loop is Naramata’s first official walkable tasting room tour.
The four wineries have joined forces to offer unique experiences, award-winning wines, and local folklore for their visitors. Each destination promises a distinct portfolio and personality, promising an unforgettable journey through Naramata's rich agriculture and winemaking heritage.
“The convenience of four wineries and a food truck all within walking distance makes it so easy to plan your day. Just a five minute drive to Naramata Village, Manitou Beach and the KVR - the Aikins Loop makes the perfect day trip. Plus, The Loop is on the Sip ‘n Cycle audio tour route making it easy to learn about our local wine culture.” says Deb Selwood, Discover Naramata board member and owner of Naramata’s Village Motel.
To round out your experience, visitors are invited to purchase an Aikins Loop Pass which covers tasting fees for all four wineries and offers discounts at several local businesses: E-Kruise, Grape Savvy Wine Trolly, Naramata Inn and Grapevine BBQ. Pass holders are also invited to enter a draw for a chance to win a complimentary dinner for two at the Naramata Inn co-hosted by the Aikins Loop this fall. Passes can be purchased at aikinsloop.com.
For travellers staying in the area longer, the Aikins Loop wineries are also part of the Naramata Bench Winery Association passport which includes discounts at 30 wineries on the Naramata Bench. NBWA passports can be purchased here.
“This innovative initiative highlights the powerful community spirit among neighbouring wineries. ‘Do the Loop’ underscores the vital role of partnerships like this in fostering community bonds and creating irresistible reasons to explore BC's vibrant wine country," Alison McKay, Vice-President, Destination Management, Destination British Columbia.
Upcoming events on the Aikins Loop include the JoieFarm Winery Summer Concert Series every other Friday in July and August, The Golden Hour at Elephant Island Winery, and The Aikins Loop dinner at the Naramata Inn this fall.
