Festivals & Events


Naramata has much to celebrate throughout the year with events in every season. During the blossoming and budding spring season. Enjoy the Spring Wine Festival, the Festival of Awareness and May Day, rich in tradition. During the summer sunshine season. Enjoy the beaches, water, recreation and celebrate Canada Day and August Faire. During the crisp, scenic autumn season, enjoy the Fall Wine Festival and the Wise Woman Weekend. During the reflective, gentle winter season enjoy the peace and harmony of Naramata, with an enchanting Village Light-Up, first week of December and New Year celebrations at the Naramata Heritage Inn and the Camp Creek Station.

  Canada Day Celebrations
An opportunity to display your national pride. The many activities at Manitou Park include a flag-raising ceremony, a cricket match starting at noon, a slowpitch game starting at 4:30pm and music by Uncorked! from 6:30 to 8:30pm. Enjoy a picnic in the park, and cake cutting. This is all sponsored by the Naramata Parks and Recreation Commission.

  Hiking Club
The Hiking Club meets every Wednesday morning, commonly at 9:00am or even as early as 7:30am, at the corner of 4th and Robinson, to carpool to the beginning of our hike. Hikes will take place from the end of April through to September. The hikes usually last from 2 - 4 hours, depending on where we hike and the length of the hike. There is also an annual Brent Mountain hike on the last Wednesday in July. It takes the better part of a day to finish. Bring water and snacks with you, or lunch if it is a longer hike. Walking poles are good, but not mandatory. Good footwear is recommended. Dress in layers during the spring and fall hikes.   Trans Canada Trail bike ride
The "Trans Canada Trail" is sponsoring a bike ride on the KVR from Myra Canyon to Penticton. Phil Janzen is looking for volunteers to "man" a check point at Chute Lake.

Arrive on site by 10:15am. Tour of duty -10:30 am. to approximately 4:30 pm.
Skills required: to record the cyclists as they pass through the Chute Lake check point.
Required to bring: lots of water, lunch & snack, hat, sunscreen & bug protection. And probably a good sense of humour!
Provided: Canopy, table & chairs. If you have a favourite chair-please bring it along.

  Naramata Scottish Country Dancers
Come and join us for informal dances on Wednesday evenings throughout the summer. Enjoy some mild physical exercise, good mental stimulation, and FUN. We will aim for a 7:00pm start, weather permitting. This one is located at Wharf Park. EASY dances will be taught. You do not need to have any dance experience, just some enthusiasm and maybe a pair of soft, flexible shoes. You do not need to be Scottish - everyone is welcome. You do not need to have a partner - this is social dancing and you will likely change partners many times in an evening. Great for all ages!

Please come to this wonderful classical music event with Krystine LeClair and special guests Nathalie Lewis and Dennis Nordlund. This is an evening in the gardens at the Bed & Breakfast Unique, 3270 Rushbury Place in Naramata. Please bring along a blanket or chair. Tickets are $12.50 and are available in advance at: Bed & Breakfast Unique, Penticton Visitor Centre and Skaha Sound, or by calling 250-496-6804. Proceeds will benefit Agur Lake Camp Society, which is a caring organization that provides a barrier-free facility for children and other people with special needs to enjoy nature in a safe and nurturing environment, along with their families.

  The Little King Lantern Festival
Manitou Park, by the water fountain. Cost: By donation - all proceeds will be donated to the South Okanagan Similkameen Brain Injury Society. Pre-registration is required to ensure we have enough material. Call Elephant Island to register at 496-5522. Created in memory of our "Little King", Rex Halladay, come together as family, as friends and as community to create lanterns - and let the magic unfold. Little ones get to stay up a little late and parade in the dusk like fireflies. All materials, instruction as well as BBQ dinner will be provided.
